SHEQ Advisor
Connect it Utility Services is a leading utility infrastructure provider delivering multi-utility and renewable energy solutions across the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive SHEQ Advisor to support our operational teams (Power) in driving exceptional standards across Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.
Head office in Hedge End, Southampton and travel to sites across Central South / South West region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about creating positive safety cultures, influencing behaviours, and supporting continuous improvement across a diverse range of utility and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Promote and champion the Connect it SHEQ culture across the business.
- Support operational teams in achieving SHEQ objectives and performance targets.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and assurance activities across projects.
- Coach, mentor and support colleagues on SHEQ best practices and compliance requirements.
- Manage audit observations and monitor the completion of corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations and ensure learning outcomes are effectively communicated.
- Provide SHEQ guidance relating to legislative, customer and certification requirements.
- Support compliance with CDM regulations and industry standards.
- Analyse SHEQ performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of SHEQ policies, procedures and initiatives.
Skills Required
- Experience managing safety audit programmes and driving continuous improvement.
- Previous SHEQ experience within utilities, construction or a related infrastructure environment.
- Experience conducting audits and managing non-conformances.
- Working knowledge of technical installation standards within utilities or construction.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with operational teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Educational Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Ability to undertake face fit testing and drugs & alcohol testing.
- Auditing experience with auditing qualification desirable.
- First Aid qualification.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
