Sheet Metal Foreman

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent
 
Salary: £40,000 - £46,000 DOE
 
Type: Permanent Role
 
Hours: Monday - Friday 06:00am - 15:00pm
 
The Role
 
We are working with an established engineering client, based in Kent.  Due to an increase in workload and a retirement, they are looking to recruit a Foreman for their Sheet Metal Section. 

As the Foreman, you will oversee day-to-day operations within the sheet metal department, working directly with the Team Leaders to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and supporting the Team Leaders over the sheet metal dept.
• Planning and allocating daily workloads.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Overseeing fabrication, forming, cutting, folding and assembly processes.
• Ensuring production targets and deadlines are achieved.
• Carrying out quality checks and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Supporting the team with technical issues and problem-solving.
• Monitoring materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed.
• Working closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve efficiency

What They're Looking For

• Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication is essential.
• Previous supervisory or foreman experience is highly desirable. (3-5 years minimum)
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of sheet metal processes and fabrication techniques.
• Confident leadership and communication skills
• Lean Manufacturing, 3S/5S, IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, Forklift Licence, ERP/MRP experience desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to motivate and support a team in a busy manufacturing environment.
