Senior Transport Planner - London / Surrey (Hybrid)

Location: London/ Surrey

Salary: -40,000/-50,000

Penguin Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading UK consultancy in the search for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of development projects across the UK while benefiting from a hybrid working environment based in London or Surrey.

Our client specialises in transport planning and infrastructure design across a wide variety of sectors, including residential, retail, leisure, office, distribution, industrial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. Their team delivers tailored solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and assessment through to implementation and supervision, with a strong reputation for providing cost-effective infrastructure solutions.

Your responsibilities

Conduct:

  • transport assessments
  • transport statements
  • feasibility studies for a range of development projects

You will also:

  • manage transport modelling and travel plans
  • contribute to highway design input
  • coordinate with drainage and flood risk specialists
  • prepare technical reports
  • present findings to clients and stakeholders
  • provide expert advice during meetings, consultations and public inquiries
  • mentor junior team members
  • support project management activities
  • contribute to bids and proposals
  • maintain strong client relationships to ensure high-quality project delivery

Requirements

  • Strong experience in transport planning, including the delivery of transport assessments, transport statements, and travel plans for development projects.
  • Proficiency in transport modelling and related analytical tools, with the ability to interpret data and provide practical recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accreditation with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or working towards accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Experience with UK transport policy, design standards, and development planning processes, including liaison with local authorities and public bodies.
  • Competence with relevant software, including junction and network modelling, GIS, and MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid working environment, with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
