Senior Structural Engineer

The OpportunityThere are multiple opportunities available for highly experienced Senior Structural Engineers to support a major nuclear project. The successful candidates could be based in Warrington, working 40 hours per week, with hybrid options available. Rate will be dependent on experience due to the potential for candidates of different levels of seniority to apply.

The roles will support the Structural Engineering Capability team in all aspects of Structural Design from concept to delivery. Successful candidates will preferably have existing knowledge and experience in nuclear standards and processes.

Your duties and responsibilities

Undertaking structural design for LSS1 as directed by the Lead Structural Engineer, including design of the portal frame, crane support steelwork, secondary steelwork, reinforced concrete raft, walls and slabs.

Working with the structural designers to ensure the design is translated into the 3D model and that 2D AutoCAD, GA and detail drawings are produced from the model as the design progresses through Preliminary and Detailed Design.

Developing material and workmanship specifications for the structural elements of the building as the design progresses into Detailed Design.

Working with other engineering disciplines and the Construction team to ensure the overall design for the Plant is coordinated, meets the functional requirements and can be constructed safely and efficiently.

Fulfilling the Designer role under the CDM Regulations.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

A civil / structural engineering degree and ideally be a Chartered Engineer.

Experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design to Eurocodes, ideally including crane loading.

Able to undertake design independently, act as a checker and guide others less experienced such as graduates.

Experienced in using structural analysis / design software – ideally Robot. Familiar with use of 3D models (Revit) and AutoCAD for 2D.

Working knowledge of CDM.

Adaptability and flexibility will be useful in the early stages of the project restart as the team will be small.

Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams.

It’s great if you also have the following

Some experience of reinforcement detailed design and steelwork connection design would be an advantage.

Ideally have some nuclear experience but if not, in a similar industrial field.

The setting for the roleThe role will be mainly office based with trips to site if required. A safety induction will be provided.
