To better lead and coordinate the Bank''s commercial activities, the Procurement Division is adopting a Strategic Category Management approach. We are seeking experienced commercial professionals to lead the development and implementation of this initiative. The Senior Strategic Category Management Lead will oversee all commercial delivery within the Facilities category, embedding SCM best practice, engaging senior stakeholders, developing category strategies, managing sourcing pipelines, and ensuring contract outcomes align with strategic goals.This role will report directly to the Bank''s Head of Strategic Category Management and includes people management responsibilities for a team of 4-6 (or up to 10-15 per the team structure) staff, defining roles and responsibilities, coaching, and ensuring staff productivity and engagement.Location: Leeds.Salary range: £79,200 - £89,100 plus benefits. The Bank spends approximately £300m annually on third party goods and services via contracts procured through the central Procurement Division, across diverse categories including technology, payments systems, building maintenance for a Grade 1 listed building, and bank note production.ResponsibilitiesLead a team of 10-15 public sector commercial professionals, delivering sourcing and strategic contracting activities to support Category Strategies.
Engage with senior stakeholders to understand current supplier and commercial landscapes and future objectives to shape medium- and long-term category strategies.
Provide commercial and category insights to senior partners on delivery methodologies and contract models to craft the Bank''s category strategies.
Develop a coordinated pipeline of procurements to support strategic and tactical purchases that underpin category strategies.
Oversee management of strategic contracts within the Facilities category to ensure performance aligns with category objectives.
Foster relationships with key strategic suppliers and coordinate senior bank engagement.
Ensure category strategies and activities comply with Bank policy and the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
Collaborate with supplier management to embed third-party risk controls and ESG/sustainability into contracts and supply chains.
Work with experts to implement the Bank''s sustainability and ESG policies in contracts and procurement.
Align with eProcurement system workflows and practices.
Model effective leadership and seek feedback to maintain a positive and professional team culture.
Minimum CriteriaExtensive knowledge of trends in facilities supplier markets and supply chains, with a track record of delivering value.
Experience of strategic category management in a complex organisation.
Proven record of delivering sophisticated category strategies in a public sector environment.
Experience in supplier relationship management to build long-term partnerships in the public sector procurement environment.
Experience crafting delivery pipelines for sourcing activities, including innovative commercial and procurement models, compliant with public sector procurement legislation.
Strong leadership, assertiveness, and the ability to challenge.
Desirable CriteriaExperience in Public Contract Regulations 2015/Procurement Act 2023 controlled environments.
MCIPS qualification (or equivalent commercial experience).
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills; ability to present clearly at all levels.
Self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This role offers a salary of £79,200 - £89,100.
