Senior Science Technician

Progress Teachers are supporting a local mainstream secondary school to appoint a Senior Science Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, as well as managing a team of technicians, to support the delivery of engaging and safe science lessons across all year groups. Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the work of the Science Technician team. Prepare, deliver, and set up resources / equipment for practical science lessons. Ensure labs, prep rooms, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and compliant with health and safety regulations. manage inventory and ordering of materials / chemicals etc. maintain accurate records of equipment, stock levels, and COSHH/cleapss documentation. Support staff and students during practical lessons, offering technical advice as appropriate. Lead on the safe disposal of hazardous waste and the management of risk assessments. Assist with the training and mentoring of new technicians. Consistently promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils. Qualifications / Requirements: A degree in or related to Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics is highly desirable. Previous experience working as a science technician, preferably in a school or educational setting. Strong understanding of health and safety procedures in laboratories (including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines). Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
