Location: Reading
Salary: -80,000 - -85,000 + realistic OTE -100,000+
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30

Our client is a well-established specialist groundwork contractor based in Berkshire, delivering groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, basements, drainage and civil engineering solutions across a range of commercial and residential projects.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of projects and play a key role in ensuring they are delivered efficiently, profitably and within budget.
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Position Overview
- Manage all commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare, review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow to maintain strong financial control.
- Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Manage variations, claims, risks and commercial opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation and account management.
- Prepare monthly CVRs and provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management.
- Provide commercial advice and support to project managers, site teams and senior management.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Position Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering or a specialist construction environment.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and cost control.
- Experience managing valuations, applications for payment, variations, claims and final accounts.
- Strong subcontract procurement and negotiation experience.
- Experience with project forecasting, CVRs, budgets and financial reporting.
- Strong commercial, numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, site teams and the supply chain.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Relevant QS, Commercial Management or Construction qualification is desirable, although equivalent experience will be considered.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial/QS systems.
