Senior Quantity Surveyor
GVR Solutions are working with a well-established and growing specialist drylining and interior contractor, based in Essex-delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare and high-end interiors sectors.
Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS who understands the specialist subcontracting environment and is looking for a long-term position with a progressive and reputable contractor.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor will include:
- Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects.
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations and payment applications.
- Managing variations, change control and associated commercial negotiations.
- Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor and supplier accounts.
- Preparing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
- Monitoring project costs against budgets and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Managing applications, payments and final accounts.
- Negotiating and agreeing variations and claims with clients and main contractors.
- Reviewing contracts, specifications and project documentation.
- Supporting project teams with commercial and contractual advice.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting regularly to senior management.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assisting with the development of junior members of the commercial team.
The Senior Quantity must-have/be:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within the specialist subcontracting sector.
- Strong experience in drylining, ceilings, partitions, suspended ceilings or interior fit-out.
- A solid understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and subcontractor accounts.
- Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account.
- Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, applications, CVRs and forecasting.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- A commercially driven and proactive approach.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and good numerical and analytical skills.
- Relevant construction/commercial qualifications are desirable-although strong industry experience will also be considered.
