A leading construction and property consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its established Buildings & Places team in Southampton.

This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects, including residential and affordable housing, retirement living, education, healthcare, defence, commercial and industrial developments, and local government estates.

You''ll work alongside experienced industry specialists on complex and high-profile projects, while having the opportunity to develop your sector experience, take on greater responsibility and contribute to the continued growth of the Quantity Surveying team.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will act as a trusted commercial advisor to clients, taking responsibility for the commercial delivery of projects throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the commercial delivery of projects, ensuring cost, quality and programme objectives are achieved.
• Preparing and managing cost plans, budgets and forecasts.
• Providing strategic cost and commercial advice to clients.
• Managing contract administration and commercial performance.
• Maintaining effective financial control, project profitability and accurate forecasting.
• Managing project governance, quality standards and client KPIs.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Mentoring junior team members and supporting their professional development.
• Supporting CPD activities and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Contributing to bids, fee proposals and wider business development.
• Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new business.

We''re looking for a commercially astute and client-focused Quantity Surveyor with strong experience within the property and construction sector.

Ideally, you will have:

• MRICS or equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven experience in Quantity Surveying and cost management across property and development projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Experience acting as an Employer''s Agent would be advantageous.
• Strong client and stakeholder management experience.
• Experience delivering complex construction projects.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to lead projects and support the development of junior team members.
• Strong commercial awareness with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
• The confidence to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a wider multidisciplinary team.
