King''s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust .The post holder is a senior member of the multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine team, acting as a lead for the training and education of students and new staff, and deputising for the Operational Superintendent at Denmark Hill. The role includes being part of a rota for management of the daily clinical workload of the department and providing technical advice. The post holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of high quality diagnostic images for all Nuclear Medicine investigations (including PET-CT, DXA and theranostics) and for interpreting the guidelines described in standard operating procedures to adapt/manipulate protocols based on clinical indications.The post holder will promote high professional and technical standards in all staff by personal example and constructive supervision.
Responsibilities
Be a senior member of the multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine team.
Lead training and education of students and new staff.
Deputise for the Operational Superintendent at Denmark Hill.
Participate in a rota for management of the daily clinical workload and provide technical advice.
Ensure efficient and effective delivery of high quality diagnostic images for Nuclear Medicine investigations (including PET-CT, DXA and theranostics).
Interpret and apply SOP guidelines, adapting/manipulating protocols as needed based on clinical indications.
Encourage the highest professional and technical standards in all staff through personal example and supervision.
Clinical Leadership, Radiopharmaceuticals and Laboratory, Patient Care, Operations and Administration, Leadership and Training
Performs and oversees imaging using SPECT, SPECT-CT, PET-CT, DXA, and laboratory techniques; ensures compliance with SOPs and legislation (e.g. IR(ME)R, IRR17) and maintains high image quality for accurate diagnosis.
Prepares, dispenses, and administers radiopharmaceuticals aseptically; receives, assays, and documents deliveries; conducts QC on equipment and laboratory tests per best practice.
Leads on patient preparation, consent, and communication; adapts procedures to individual needs while maintaining safety, dignity, and confidentiality.
Manages workflow, scheduling, team allocation; supports resource optimisation, radiation safety, incident reporting, and fault resolution.
Mentors junior staff and students, contributes to audits and research, and actively engages in CPD and service improvement; deputises for the Operational Superintendent.
