Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract)

A contract position Outside IR35On site (min 3 days)Our client operates in the automotive and advanced engineering sector, designing and manufacturing electric motors, power electronics, energy storage systems and thermal equipment for a range of vehicle and mobility applications. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract role to lead the development of innovative mechanical systems from clean-sheet concepts through to production.Key Responsibilities:Lead clean-sheet mechanical design and development for rotating electrical machines, transmissions and drivetrains, with potential involvement in pumps, fans, power electronics and battery systemsManage concept development, prototyping, validation and the delivery of production-ready productsCarry out mechanical analysis using hand calculations and CAE tools, considering component failure modes and material strengthsProduce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for components and assembliesBuild and test prototype hardware and test rigs as requiredUse simulation software to optimise designs and analyse product behaviourWork collaboratively with manufacturing, test, supply chain and external suppliersSupport quality and regulatory compliance while mentoring junior engineersJob Requirements:Strong experience in mechanical engineering and mechanical designProficiency in 3D CAD modelling and 2D engineering drawingExperience with analytical methods and CAE tools such as ANSYS or MATLABPractical ..... full job details .....
