Senior Environmental Crime Officer - 31717

You will join the Environment Agency as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer within the National Investigations Team. This role sits in the National Environmental Crime Unit, part of the National Regulation and Monitoring Team. The team is nationally dispersed and focused on bringing the most serious environmental offenders to justice.Overview

Lead and coordinate major investigations from identification of lines of enquiry, review of intelligence, and allocation of actions, through to evidence gathering, interviews, casefile preparation and pursuit of successful prosecution.Work alongside Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive investigations into serious environmental crimes (e.g., involvement of Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports, large-scale fraud).Develop and progress investigations, support team development, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of investigative practices.Respond to incidents as part of role requirements, with availability for incident or business continuity duties; training and workplace adjustments are provided.Experience and Qualifications

High attention to detail, self-motivation, and a strong investigative background.In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written communication; basic IT competency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams).Knowledge of environmental crime, leading serious criminal investigations, and experience with Major Incident Rooms is desirable.Proven ability to drive, initiative, and experience in building and developing investigation teams.Full driving licence required.Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 vetting processes is required within the 6-month probationary period.Role Details
