The post holder will participate in clinics, operating sessions, and inpatient care for breast patients at King''s College Hospital and will work closely with all Consultant staff.They will be involved in administrative duties such as the appropriate management of investigation results and facilitating the efficient use of theatre time.The post holder will participate in and supervise case preparation and presentation at the weekly Multidisciplinary Meeting.They will also take part in the Directorate''s monthly audit sessions, including the preparation and presentation of clinical audit projects.Participation in ongoing clinical research projects within the department will be encouraged.Additionally, the post holder will attend the Directorate''s monthly audit and journal club sessions, contributing to the preparation of clinical audit projects and reviewing articles from peer-reviewed journals.The work intensity of all posts for doctors in training is subject to continuous review in accordance with the Junior Doctors'' Contract. Lead, coach, and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices, ensuring excellence is recognized and underperformance is addressed.Participate in regular performance appraisal meetings and ensure each team member has clear objectives and development plans.Ensure the team complies with all statutory and mandatory training, as well as any professional training requirements, keeping all certifications up to date.Manage team absences, including sickness, in line with Trust policy, ensuring appropriate return-to-work meetings are conducted, e-rosters are updated, and productivity is maintained at the highest possible level.Identify and fill any vacancies within the team in accordance with the Trust''s recruitment policy and processes.Identify talent and support internal talent management processes to attract, retain, and succession plan for your people.Regularly review the skills mix within the team to identify opportunities for maximizing resource utilization and allocation, ensuring job descriptions remain current.Promote and maintain the overall wellbeing of the team, continuously working to improve morale and foster a culture of zero tolerance for bullying and harassment.Person specification

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria

Medical DegreeMinimum of 2 years'' full time (or equivalent part time) hospital service in the ST1-2 grade or higherMRCS or equivalentFull registration with the General Medical CouncilDesirable criteria

Fellowship of Masters in General SurgeryKnowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

Certificate of completion of a core surgical training programme (which must include Breast as part of General Surgery) and documentation of readiness to enter higher surgical trainingUnderstanding of principles of medical auditUp to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needsDesirable criteria
