Senior Buyer - Electronics Manufacturing
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Commercial team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing products and components, ensuring that quality and delivery targets are consistently met. You will work closely with suppliers to maintain strong relationships and support procurement strategies.
Additionally, you will contribute to costing activities for new quotations, providing accurate and timely information to support future purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities - Senior Buyer
- Solicit and negotiate supplier price, lead time and delivery quotations.
- Analyse complex data for multiple components and make decisions on the best purchasing options.
- Use the MRP system, Factory Master and any group purchasing models to support buying and quoting activities.
- Manage purchasing for all customers, including buying, expediting and pushouts.
- Enable effective supplier selection, assessment, performance and improvement.
- Develop close working relationships with other key functions (account management, engineering, quality and production) to support commercial negotiations for new projects.
- Make suggestions to improve current processes for increased operational efficiency and increase business performance: working towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Provide general support to the wider commercial team and Commercial Manager on key priorities and projects as required.
- Support team members with guidance and help on company processes and systems.
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements
Essential:
- Some experience of working for a manufacturing company with an understanding of electronic products and knowledge of component purchasing and commodity buying (plastics, metals etc.
- Previous buying experience, minimum 4 years.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills; confident to prioritise and juggle competing demands.
- Strong numeracy and analytical ability; using Excel and databases.
- Confident user of stock or MRP systems (IFS or Factory Master would be advantageous).
- Problem-solving and ability to think laterally to find solutions to problems.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise verbally or in writing with suppliers and other key stakeholders.

Salary: up to £30,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 07:30 am-16:00 pm, Friday: 07:30 am-13:30 pm
