The Opportunity
A respected property and construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor to its established Exeter team, supporting a strong and secured programme of work across Devon.
The position offers a balanced mix of professional building surveying and project-led responsibilities, with the opportunity to remain involved throughout the full lifecycle of commissions. You’ll work across a varied property portfolio, taking projects from initial brief and technical assessment through to delivery and completion.
Projects span education, commercial, retail and care environments, providing plenty of variety while contributing to the improvement and long-term performance of buildings used by communities across the region.

The Role
Working with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams, you’ll deliver a combination of professional surveying services, refurbishment schemes and asset improvement projects.
As Senior Building Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a broad range of professional building surveying services
- Leading refurbishment and property improvement projects from initial instruction through to completion
- Acting as lead consultant and maintaining day-to-day client relationships
- Producing specifications, technical reports, schedules and contract documentation
- Undertaking contract administration and project management duties
- Coordinating effectively with consultants, contractors, colleagues and project stakeholders
- Maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, quality and programme delivery
About You You’ll be an experienced building surveyor with a strong technical foundation and the confidence to manage projects and client relationships independently.
You will ideally demonstrate:
- MRICS qualification – essential
- Proven experience across professional building surveying and project management
- Strong technical knowledge of refurbishment and property improvement schemes
- Proficiency in CAD
- Revit experience would be beneficial, although it is not essential
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach to solving problems and delivering projects
