Building Control Officer Job Type: Full-time Location: Oldham Council Hourly rate: £65-£75 per hour Umbrella. Inside IR35. Length of role: Initial 7 months Oldham Council is seeking a Building Control Officer to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining safety and compliance within the construction sector. The successful candidate will have a strong background in building control services and a deep understanding of Building Control legislation. Day-to-Day of the Role: Work within a building control service, handling a wide range of building control applications. Apply Building Control legislation to complex projects, including those submitted under the LABC Partnership Scheme. Interpret plans and advise applicants on regulatory issues. Conduct pre-application meetings and write clear, concise reports and correspondence. Engage in fire safety inspections and audits. Manage enforcement actions for breaches of Building Regulations, including conducting PACE interviews. Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota for dealing with referrals of potentially dangerous structures. Required Skills and Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in a Construction-related discipline. Full membership or working towards membership of RICS, ABE, CIOB, or equivalent. Experience in building control services and applying legislation to complex projects.
