SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism and SEMHLocation: Haslingden, LancashireContract: Full-Time Term-Time OnlySetting: Independent Special SchoolJob OverviewWe are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist independent school in Haslingden, supporting pupils aged 7-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.The school provides a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. Staff work collaboratively to deliver personalised support, promote positive outcomes, and create a safe and engaging learning experience for every student.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and SEMH needsSupport learning activities through tailored and differentiated approachesImplement sensory and communication strategies to meet individual pupil needsPromote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviourSupport pupils in achieving their EHCP targetsWork closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support teamMonitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and engagementHelp maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environmentSupport personal care and behavioural needs where requiredRequirementsPrevious experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly autism and/or SEMH (essential)Calm, patient, and empathetic approachAbility to ..... full job details .....
