About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently working with a welcoming primary school in Newham who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting ASAP.

The school is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs, both within the classroom and through targeted 1:1 and small-group support.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to ensure pupils are able to access learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to secure a full-time role within a supportive Newham primary school and build strong, consistent relationships with pupils.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum and classroom activities.
• Assist with social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Implement strategies outlined within individual support plans and EHCPs.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support pupils during lessons, break times and wider school activities.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct.

Qualifications/Experience

• Previous experience working in a UK school is essential.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Good understanding of safeguarding.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
