Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Starfyn Education is looking for passionate, patient and motivated Psychology Graduates to join schools across Slough-as SEN Teaching Assistants.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, SEN Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy or another child-focused profession.

The Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop both academically and personally.
Working alongside teachers and wider school teams, you may support children and young people with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Learning difficulties
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Behavioural needs
Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and access the curriculum
  • Supporting academic, social and emotional development
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Helping pupils develop appropriate coping and emotional-regulation strategies
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and interventions
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
