Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils individually or in small groups, adapting your approach within the plans agreed by school staff.

• Reinforce teacher-led literacy, numeracy and practical classroom activities.
• Use agreed visual, verbal or practical strategies to support understanding and communication.
• Encourage independence and support positive routines during lessons and transitions.
• Report useful observations about learning, engagement or wellbeing to the class team.

What We Are Looking For in an SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience supporting children with additional needs in a school or another relevant setting.
• A reliable SEN Teaching Assistant who remains calm and responds sensitively to pupils'' needs.
• Confidence working alongside teachers and following safeguarding and behaviour procedures.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one, alongside satisfactory safeguarding checks.
