Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary & Post-16)

Area: Bury, Greater Manchester
Start Date: April 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: -105140 per day (Dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the School:

We''re recruiting enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in a specialist secondary and sixth form setting in Bury.

In this role, you''ll work closely with young people aged 11-19, helping them access learning and develop confidence in a supportive environment. The students you''ll support have a range of additional needs, including autism, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and sensory needs.

Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across secondary and post-16 classes.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes and ensuring pupils can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Support the development of independence, life skills, and social engagement.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
  • Work closely with the school team, families, and external agencies to ensure a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant - What We''re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success.
  • A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant - To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
