A specialist alternative provision in Wellingborough is looking for compassionate, committed, and confident SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team this September. This school provides vital support for students aged 11-16 who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
This is more than a classroom role-it''s an opportunity to be a mentor, a motivator, and a source of stability for students navigating significant challenges.
Your Role Will Involve:
Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Helping students to re-engage with education through patience, structure, and consistency
Collaborating with teachers and behaviour mentors to deliver bespoke interventions
Promoting positive behaviour through de-escalation and relationship building
Encouraging resilience, emotional regulation, and self-confidence in each pupil
Contributing to a therapeutic and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe and valued
We''re Looking For Someone Who:
Is passionate about making education accessible and meaningful for all students
Demonstrates empathy, emotional resilience, and consistency in challenging situations
Has experience working with young people in education, care, or community settings (desirable but not essential - training is provided)
Understands or is keen to learn about trauma-informed practice and behaviour support
Can work flexibly as part of a dedicated and experienced multidisciplinary team
