About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Southampton is seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. This role involves supporting children with complex needs, including autism, sensory processing difficulties, and communication challenges. You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to provide tailored support that promotes learning, independence, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex needs
- Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and activities
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Help manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Contribute to daily routines and transitions to support pupil engagement
Requirements
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with complex needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and resilience
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
