SEND Teacher - Enhanced SEND Resource

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Salary: Paid to Teacher Pay Scale
Contract: Temporary
Start Date: January 2027
End Date: July 2027
Days: 2 days per week (days to be confirmed)
Hours: 8:15am - 4:00pm minimum

Spencer Clarke Group are working in partnership with a primary school in the Chesterfield area to recruit an experienced and dedicated SEND Teacher to join their enhanced SEND resource from January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate SEND teacher to work within a specialist provision supporting pupils with significant and complex special educational needs. The provision predominantly supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom have an EHCP and are on a pathway towards specialist school placement.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised and engaging curriculum tailored to the individual needs and abilities of the pupils.

The provision currently supports approximately 5 pupils each day, with up to a further 5 pupils accessing the resource at different points throughout the day. You will work alongside a strong support team, with 2-3 Teaching Assistants available at any one time.

The role will involve shared planning responsibilities and working closely with colleagues to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons for pupils with significant SEND.
  • Deliver a bespoke curriculum based around the Equals Curriculum Scheme.
  • Focus on developing pupils'' communication, cognition, independence and life skills.
  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet a wide range of individual needs and abilities.
  • Support pupils with ASD and associated SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other professionals to provide a consistent approach.
  • Contribute to the assessment, monitoring and recording of pupil progress.
  • Implement individual education plans, EHCP outcomes and personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and pupil wellbeing.
  • Develop strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work as part of a team to support pupils who may be transitioning towards specialist school provision.

About the Pupils

The provision predominantly supports KS1 pupils, although some EYFS pupils also access the resource at various times.

Pupils have significant SEND needs, with the majority having an ASD diagnosis and an EHCP. Some pupils also present with SEMH needs.

The pupils are generally working significantly below age-related expectations and may be working several years below their chronological age. Learning is therefore focused heavily on functional skills, communication, independence, life skills and basic cognitive development.

Staffing is strong, with a minimum ratio of approximately 1:3, reducing to 1:2 at times depending on pupil needs.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous experience teaching pupils with significant SEND.
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD and/or complex learning needs.
  • A good understanding of personalised and highly differentiated teaching.
  • Experience managing and supporting positive behaviour.
  • The ability to deliver a functional and engaging curriculum focused on individual outcomes.
  • A nurturing, patient and consistent approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The confidence to work effectively alongside Teaching Assistants and other professionals.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.

Experience within a special school, SEND resource base, enhanced provision or specialist classroom would be highly advantageous.

Why Apply?

  • Paid to Teacher Pay Scale for candidates undertaking the full teaching role.
  • Opportunity to work within an established enhanced SEND provision.
  • Supportive team environment with 2-3 Teaching Assistants available.
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils with complex additional needs.
  • Part-time commitment of 2 days per week.
  • Temporary position running from January 2027 to July 2027.
  • Opportunity to develop your experience within specialist SEND education.

If you are an experienced and passionate SEND Teacher looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity from January 2027, we would love to hear from you.
