SEN Teacher - SEMH
Academics are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Canterbury, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who thrives in a nurturing, relationship-focused environment and is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
The school provides a highly supportive and therapeutic setting for pupils who may have experienced trauma, anxiety, behavioural challenges, or difficulties accessing mainstream education. Small class sizes and strong support staff ratios allow teachers to build meaningful relationships and deliver truly personalised learning.
The Role: SEN Teacher
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning difficulties
- Create a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and academic progress
The Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience working within SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
