Sen English Teacher

About the Role

Balfor Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN English Teacher to work within a specialist education setting in Langport, Somerset.

The successful teacher will be responsible for delivering English to pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting lessons and teaching approaches to meet the individual learning needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We are looking for a confident and compassionate teacher who can create an engaging, structured and inclusive learning environment while supporting pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils within an SEN setting.
• Adapt teaching strategies and learning materials to meet individual SEN and learning needs.
• Assess pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.
• Maintain positive classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff and other education professionals.
• Support the safeguarding, wellbeing and academic development of all pupils.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum 6 months UK teaching experience.
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level.
• Previous experience working with pupils with SEN/SEND is highly desirable.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to adapt lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities.
• A patient, resilient and supportive approach to teaching.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
