About the Role:
A supportive and inclusive school in the Aylesbury area is seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to support pupils who face emotional or behavioural challenges. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping children develop resilience, confidence, and engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assist with delivering tailored interventions and behaviour strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
- Help develop and implement Individual Education and Behaviour Plans (IEPs and IBPs)
- Foster a safe, therapeutic, and encouraging environment for learning
- Support emotional regulation, positive routines, and wellbeing
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH, SEN, or behaviour needs (preferred)
- Calm, patient, and resilient nature with strong emotional intelligence
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and behaviour management skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Valid enhanced DBS (on the update service) or willingness to apply
- Relevant training or qualifications in child development, SEN, or mental health (desirable)
