SEMH Teacher PRU and SEMH School Settings East London September 25 start Currently a mainstream teacher but don''t feel you''re able to engage with all your students? Have a nurture approach but struggle to get this across is a large setting? Thrive off working with children that struggle with social, emotional and mental health needs? Working as an SEMH Teacher takes a special type of person, they require resilience, composure, creativity, consistency and the ability to adapt quickly. The students you''ll be supporting will have most likely come from trauma, be involved with multi-agencies such as CAMHs, social services and therefore may not have a lot of trust in adults meaning you could be their key person and this is why consistency and being there to count on is the main factor of this role, trust could take a long time to build but seconds to break if you do not safeguard these children correctly. Classes will consist of maximum 8 students with support staff on hand, learning will consist of practical and/or written lesson plans, you need to be creative and engaging to keep the children''s attention.
