School Attendance Administrator

Location: Greenwich
Contract: Temporary, starting September
Daily Rate: -115.79 - -136.92
Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (7 paid hours with 1 unpaid lunch hour)



Purpose of the Role

The School Attendance Administrator will play a crucial role in supporting the monitoring and improvement of student attendance and punctuality across the school, particularly for students in Years 7 to 11. Working as part of the attendance team, the postholder will provide effective administrative support to ensure accurate record-keeping, timely communication with families, and the implementation of attendance strategies.



Key Responsibilities

Attendance Monitoring and Administration

  • Ensure all registers are accurately completed and maintained throughout the school day.

  • Contact parents by 10:00 AM each day regarding missing attendance marks or unexplained absences.

  • Enter attendance and late marks into the school''s management system (Bromcom preferred).

  • Track and monitor attendance trends for all students in Years 7 to 11, identifying and flagging persistent absence and punctuality issues.

  • Generate and distribute attendance and punctuality alerts to families as appropriate.

  • Produce weekly attendance reports and dashboards to support the Attendance Officer and senior leadership team.

  • Send weekly letters to parents of students with attendance below 95% (Fastrack List).

Team Collaboration and Communication

  • Attend regular attendance team meetings to review attendance data, discuss concerns, and plan interventions.

  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies to promote positive attendance and punctuality.

  • Assist in organising and supporting school events such as parents'' evenings, open evenings, and RGTSA events.

  • Provide cover support for the Cover Manager by coordinating daily teacher cover arrangements when necessary.

Records and Compliance

  • Maintain and update student attendance records and personal information.

  • Support compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.

  • Undertake professional development and training as required.



Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a school administrative role, ideally involving attendance monitoring.

  • Familiarity with Bromcom or similar Management Information Systems (MIS) preferred.

  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, confident in liaising with parents, students, and staff.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and managing competing priorities.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting attendance interventions or working within a pastoral team.

  • Knowledge of statutory attendance procedures and education welfare practices.



Additional Information

  • The role will require attendance at key school events, including at least one parents'' evening and the school''s main open evening.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance is required prior to employment.

  • The postholder will be expected to adhere to all school policies, including safeguarding, health & safety, and equality and diversity.
