Overview

A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Weybourne Day Unit provides a nurse-led Oncology and Haematology service. Specially trained Chemotherapy Nurses administer outpatient chemotherapy regimens, which are supported by the Oncology and Haematology consultants and a team of doctors specially trained in Chemotherapy. Full time hours and part time hours available. Work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multidisciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse. Act as a leader in the clinical area, in the absence of a more senior member of staff. To work in accordance with the principles set out by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.

Responsibilities

Support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service; act as a role model to others in all aspects of work and demonstrate NNUH’s PRIDE values (People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence) and inclusive behaviours.

Join a friendly, collaborative hospital working with local services and contribute to the workforce of over 10,000 staff.

Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice and carry out assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care without supervision.

Carry out the daily personal care of patients and maintain accurate records of all care given.

Update patient administration systems (e.g., PAS) to ensure real-time data collection and confidentiality.

Utilise information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trust’s Cyber Code of Conduct.

Maintain confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic) and be aware of the Freedom of Information Act.

Promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team.

Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence, and have successfully completed the Trust’s preceptorship programme.

Qualifications and Requirements

Maintain a high standard of nursing care with evidence-based practice.

Carry out the responsibilities with minimal supervision once trained.

To have successfully completed the Trust’s preceptorship programme.
