The Opportunity

GSL Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Fareham to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Religious Education Teacher.

This role will begin in October 2025 and run for the duration of the academic year as a maternity cover. The school is open to offering a permanent position at the end of the fixed term for the right candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and strong Early Career Teachers looking to develop their career in a supportive environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As the RE Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4
• Inspire curiosity and promote respect for diverse faiths, cultures, and worldviews
• Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of mixed-ability groups
• Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and encourage critical thinking
• Monitor, assess, and record student progress in line with school policy
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including assemblies, enrichment activities, and departmental initiatives
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities faculty to share best practice and develop resources

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or an equivalent overseas teaching qualification recognised in the UK
• Experience teaching Religious Education at secondary school level
• A strong understanding of the national curriculum for RE
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
• A passion for developing students’ knowledge and understanding of faith, ethics, and philosophy
• A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting the school’s ethos
