Project Quantity Surveyor – Vauxhall
A growing London main contractor is looking to appoint a Project Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a major hotel conversion in Vauxhall.

The project involves the complete transformation of an existing ten-storey office building into a modern 180-bedroom hotel. The scheme includes extensive structural alterations, new building services, high-quality internal finishes, upgraded guest facilities and the full refurbishment of the existing building.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with refurbishment, hotel, commercial or residential experience who wants to take ownership of a technically interesting London project from procurement through to final account.

You will work between the Vauxhall site and the company’s Central London office, with one day per week available from home.

The Role
As Project Quantity Surveyor, you will take day-to-day commercial responsibility for the project, working closely with the operational team and reporting to senior commercial management.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing procurement and subcontractor package appointments
• Preparing and negotiating subcontract agreements
• Managing valuations, variations and payment applications
• Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections
• Monitoring the project budget and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Managing subcontractor accounts through to final account
• Attending project, client and commercial meetings
• Working closely with the site team to protect programme, quality and profitability
• Providing commercial input throughout the delivery of the scheme
• Supporting the Commercial Manager and wider commercial team where required

The Project
The successful candidate will initially be responsible for a substantial office-to-hotel conversion in Vauxhall.

The project will deliver approximately 180 bedrooms within an existing multi-storey building and will involve a complex mixture of refurbishment, structural alterations, internal packages, MEP services and high-quality finishes.

Its location close to a major transport hub creates additional logistical and sequencing challenges, making this an interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys technically demanding refurbishment projects.

What They Are Looking For

• At least four years’ Quantity Surveying experience
• Main contractor experience preferred
• Experience delivering refurbishment, hotel, residential or commercial projects
• Previous exposure to complex internal packages and building services would be beneficial
• Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of procurement, contract administration and cost control
• Confident managing subcontractor accounts and commercial reporting
• Commercially aware with strong communication skills
• Organised, proactive and capable of managing responsibilities independently
• Ambitious and motivated to progress within a growing business

Salary & Package

• £55,000–£70,000, depending on experience
