Quality Technician
TXM Recruit are working as the recruitment partner for an established engineering and manufacturing business, supporting them in the appointment of a Quality Technician to join their QSHE team in Saffron Walden.
This is a hands-on quality role within a technical manufacturing environment, working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory and company requirements.
The RoleAs a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for supporting inspection, testing and quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process. You will carry out inspections, measurements and testing, identify and manage non-conforming products, and provide accurate quality data to support investigations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out incoming, in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet defined requirements.
- Verify products against engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions and inspection plans.
- Perform product testing and measurement activities using approved equipment and methods.
- Conduct first-off inspections, First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and verification checks.
- Identify, segregate and control non-conforming products in line with company procedures.
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), supporting investigations and corrective actions.
- Complete re-inspection and verification activities following rework or repair.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, test results and quality documentation.
- Support root cause investigations by providing inspection data and product history information.
- Monitor recurring defects and quality trends, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Assist with calibration activities and ensure inspection equipment remains fit for purpose.
- Support internal audits, process reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve performance.
- Promote compliance with customer requirements, company procedures and quality standards.
- Previous experience in a quality, inspection, manufacturing or engineering role.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Competent in maintaining accurate records and quality documentation.
- A proactive attitude with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Experience within manufacturing, electronics, rail, aerospace or another regulated industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with ERP or quality management systems.
- Internal auditing experience or qualification.
