We at JKR are working closely with a leading manufacturer, who are recruiting a Quality Engineer to join their team!

Quality Engineer Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will provide a professional Quality Engineering service to the business, with a primary focus on Manufacturing Quality Control. The role will work closely with Manufacturing, customers and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are understood and achieved, whilst supporting inspection, measurement, auditing and continuous improvement activities.

Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise directly with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related issues

• Work closely with Manufacturing teams, identifying and reporting quality shortfalls and supporting effective resolutions

• Train Operators in inspection techniques and the correct use of inspection and measurement equipment

• Prepare inspection equipment work instructions and support the development of effective inspection processes

• Assist with the management of the measurement and test equipment calibration system

• Set adjustable measurement and test equipment for use by Manufacturing Operators

• Recommend and support improvements to inspection and quality techniques, processes and equipment

• Interpret customer quality requirements and translate these into detailed Manufacturing Instructions

• Compile final inspection trend analysis and quality reports

• Manage Non-Conformances and Customer Complaints using structured problem-solving techniques including 8D and 5 Whys

• Compile and submit customer quality documentation packs

• Conduct system and process audits in line with scheduled requirements

• Carry out supplier audits, including reporting findings and making recommendations

• Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding specific quality concerns and corrective actions

• Create Quality Control Plans and LTQRs for specific customer projects

• Support the business in ensuring final inspection and audit requirements are completed within agreed timescales

Quality Engineer Skills & Knowledge:

• Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience within a Quality Engineer or equivalent Quality function

• Strong knowledge of inspection techniques within a mechanical engineering / manufacturing environment

• Ability to interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings and determine appropriate measuring techniques

• Experience producing accurate inspection reports and associated quality documentation

• Strong understanding of Non-Conformance management, Root Cause Analysis, 8D and 5 Whys

• Experience conducting system, process and supplier audits

• Strong project management and organisational abilities

• Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering background

• CMM programming experience would be highly advantageous, particularly PC-DMIS

• Experience using Hexagon CMM equipment with tactile and laser heads would be beneficial

• ISO 9000 Auditor qualification would be advantageous
