Quality Control Operative (Food Manufacturing)

Night shift - Sunday to Thursday: 21:30 to 06:30

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Control Operative to join a food manufacturing business within a modern production facility in Stoke on Trent. The role is responsible for ensuring products meet company, customer, and food safety standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct weight checks on finished and frozen products and verify any breakages
  • Monitor product weight and size during production to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Verify ingredient weighing and recipe accuracy
  • Perform daily checks on ingredient and water measurements
  • Complete routine temperature checks on chillers, freezers, and refrigerated storage areas
  • Monitor product weights and dimensions to ensure consistency and specification compliance
  • Ensure products meet required temperature standards throughout the production process
  • Carry out equipment and safety checks, including knife inspections
  • Record, investigate, and support corrective actions for non-conformances
  • Generate and maintain non-conformance reports and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Verify product labelling accuracy
  • Conduct routine metal detector validation checks
  • Follow sampling plans for raw materials and finished products
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality team, providing cover for colleagues where required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, compliance, and product consistency

Working Hours

  • Night shift pattern
  • Operating hours: Sunday to Thursday, 21:30 to 06:30

Essential Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of quality control processes within a manufacturing environment
  • Enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • IT literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and email systems
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety and compliance
