About the Role
As a Quality Control Supervisor - Maternity Cover, you will oversee quality assurance operations at a food manufacturing site in Bilston for a 12-month temporary contract, offering £14.47 - £16.79 per hour on Saturdays plus overtime and benefits. Working PM shifts from Tuesday to Saturday, you will lead a team, report to the Quality Manager, and ensure adherence to BRCGS, GMP, HACCP, and food safety legislation. Your duties include supervising and developing staff, maintaining customer and legal standards, and driving continuous improvement across production processes. Quality Control Supervisor – Maternity Cover 12 months sought by a £multimillion pound food products manufacturer to join their team in Bilston.
This is a temporary role for 12 months maternity cover, PM shifts Tuesday to Saturday: Tues – Thurs 2pm to 11.00pm; Fri 1.30pm to 10.30pm; Sat 8am to 6pm.
The Role:
As Quality Control Supervisor you will oversee quality assurance activities across the food production site.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will lead and develop the QA/QC team, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement throughout the business.
Your responsibilities as Quality Control Supervisor:
- Lead, supervise and develop the Quality Control team.
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS, GMP, HACCP, food safety legislation and customer specifications.
- Conduct audits, inspections, traceability exercises, mass balance checks and quality assessments across the site.
- Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions and liaise with suppliers where required.
- Support internal and external audits and deputise for the Quality Manager when necessary.
- Manage microbiological and organoleptic sampling programmes and maintain accurate quality records.
- Collaborate with production, engineering and hygiene teams to drive quality improvements and resolve issues.
- Coordinate export requirements, customer sample requests and label approval processes.
- Monitor hygiene, maintenance and prohibited item procedures to ensure full site compliance.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing quality leadership role is desirable
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS, GMP, HACCP and food safety legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong people management skills with experience coaching, developing and supporting teams.
