Quality Auditor

Salary: -40,000 per annum, plus travel expenses
Location: Remote, with regular national travel and overnight stays

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and committed Quality Auditor to provide independent assurance across a portfolio of residential children''s homes, supported accommodation services and independent schools.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and carrying out systematic audits to assess services against relevant statutory regulations, standards and internal quality frameworks.

The role will involve identifying areas of compliance and non-compliance, assessing potential risks, and highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement.

You will play an important role in ensuring that services maintain high standards of practice and deliver safe, effective and compliant care and support.

Initially, the primary focus of the role will be residential children''s homes and supported accommodation services. You will be expected to complete a minimum of two audits per week as part of a rolling programme, ensuring that each service receives an audit visit at least quarterly.

This is a fully remote role, but requires regular travel to services across the UK, including overnight stays where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and undertake structured, evidence-based audits across residential children''s homes, supported accommodation and independent schools.
• Assess services against relevant statutory regulations, including the Children''s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and Independent School Standards.
• Provide independent and objective assurance regarding service-level compliance and quality.
• Review documentation, records, policies, practice and other evidence to identify strengths, risks and areas requiring improvement.
• Identify and clearly report areas of non-compliance and potential regulatory risk.
• Produce high-quality, accurate and constructive audit reports, clearly communicating findings and recommendations.
• Engage professionally with staff, children and young people as part of the audit process.
• Maintain independence, integrity and professional objectivity when conducting audits and reaching conclusions.
• Monitor progress against agreed actions and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
• Manage an allocated audit schedule effectively, ensuring audits and reports are completed within agreed timescales.
• Travel nationally to undertake service visits, including occasional overnight stays.

About You

We are looking for an individual with strong experience in quality assurance, auditing, inspection or compliance within children''s social care or a closely related environment.

You will have:

• Strong knowledge of the Children''s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023.
• Experience of auditing, inspection or quality assessment within children''s social care.
• The ability to analyse a range of evidence and make sound, balanced judgements regarding compliance, risk and quality.
• Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to present findings clearly, accurately and constructively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with staff, children and young people.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy audit schedule and meet deadlines.
• A high level of professional integrity and the ability to maintain independence and objectivity.
• A proactive approach to identifying risks, addressing areas of concern and supporting continuous improvement.
• A full driving licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and flexibility to travel nationally and stay away overnight when required.
