Quality and Process Engineer

Overview
The Quality and Process Engineer will play a key role in driving operational excellence across the Manchester site, ensuring world-class quality standards, robust process controls, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing value stream.This role will support the effective implementation of the Business Management System (BMS), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies, and the introduction of new products and processes. Acting as a technical quality partner to production and engineering teams, the role will focus on reducing waste, improving “right-first-time” performance, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Perform daily quality function responsibilities across the Manchester value stream.Lead the implementation of APQP, PPAP, FAIR, ISIR and related activities.Develop and maintain PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Manage and execute internal/external audit schedules in line with AS9100 Rev D / ISO9001.Ensure full compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.Process Engineering and Improvement
Develop and maintain robust process controls, including SPC, to reduce variation and improve consistency.Conduct process capability studies and statistical analysis to drive data-led decision-making.Monitor and analyse process data, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance OEE and reduce scrap.Support Lean manufacturing initiatives (e.g. 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, Single Piece Flow).Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement
Lead responses to customer quality concerns using structured problem-solving (8D, PPS, DMAIC).Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.Manage production scrap and defects via the MRB process.Provide troubleshooting expertise to support production teams.Routinely report on quality and process KPIs, driving accountability for improvement.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and customer teams to ensure robust quality standards.Manage supplier quality concerns within the assigned value stream.Support new product introduction projects with quality engineering expertise.Contribute to the Quality annual improvement plan.Person Specification
Strong background in Quality and Process Engineering within an AS9100 Rev D or ISO9001 manufacturing environment.Proficient in quality methodologies: APQP, PPAP, PSW, FAIR, ISIR, SPC, Control Plans.Skilled in process engineering tools: Time Studies (MOST), Yamazumi, SOPs, Spaghetti Diagrams, VSM.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GDandT.Experienced in risk assessment, process safety, and regulatory compliance.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Qualified AS9100/ISO9001 Auditor.Hands-on experience with CMM technology.Exposure to Lean methodologies: Jidoka, SMED, 5S, Single Piece Flow.Experience in developing and implementing new manufacturing processes.Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Gantt charts, Project Charters).Attributes
