Purchasing Manager – Aerospace / Engineering

Location: Hayes, Middlesex (site-based, hybrid after 3 months)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits

We are recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join a specialist aerospace/engineering manufacturer based in Hayes. This is a site-based role initially, moving to a hybrid pattern after 3 months. You’ll lead a small but highly experienced purchasing team and take full ownership of procurement, supplier management, and supply chain strategy.

• Oversee the end-to-end procurement process across metals, components, and engineered products.

• Lead, coach, and develop a small purchasing team, bringing structure and strong controls into daily operations.

• Manage supplier performance – driving improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and risk mitigation.

• Build strong relationships with suppliers, including regular UK travel for site visits.

• Interpret engineering drawings/specifications to support sourcing and supplier selection.

• Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Quality, Planning) to ensure aligned procurement activity.

• Negotiate contracts, RFQs, and terms to achieve cost savings and supply security.

• Experienced Purchasing Manager or senior procurement professional.

• Background in aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing essential.

• Strong knowledge of metals, engineered components, and supply chains.

• Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings.

• Excellent leadership and people management skills – able to drive performance in an experienced team.

• Commercially astute, with proven experience in supplier/vendor management and strategy.

• ERP systems knowledge (SAP preferred).

• Flexible to travel for supplier meetings.

• Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE
