Overview
Are you a Registered Nurse looking to gain experience in working with children and families in a community setting? We are looking for enthusiastic staff nurses from different specialties to join the Health Visiting service at the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will be working with our teams in City and Hackney to deliver core and targeted services to children aged 0-5 and their families. The post holder will be supported by qualified health visitors and mixed skill teams, with training opportunities available to support the new role.

Job Description
The Public Health Staff Nurse will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme within a progressive universal model of service delivery, in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory agencies. The role will contribute to the development and safe delivery of the 0-5 health visiting service, using best available evidence to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people, especially those from disadvantaged groups.The post holder will have delegated workload under the supervision of Senior Health Visitors, and will carry out specific nursing care for patients and families. They will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies to ensure high standards of care. They will support the team and organisation to achieve the Trust''s values in day-to-day work.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver the Healthy Child Programme within a universal model of service delivery.
Collaborate with statutory and non-statutory services to meet assessed needs.
Provide nursing care for patients, families and carers under supervision.
Work with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to ensure high standards of care.
Support team, department and organisation in line with the Trust values.
Qualifications and Experience
EssentialEducation/Qualifications: Diploma/Degree level; RN/RMN/RSCN/RNLD; Current NMC registration.
DesirableMentorship qualification or equivalent; other post-registration education/training.
Skills/AbilitiesEffective written and verbal communication; problem solving; ability to work independently and prioritise; ability to engage others and work in partnership across organisational boundaries; group facilitation; IT skills; flexibility; ability to meet tight deadlines; ability to use client feedback to inform practice.
ExperiencesEssential: Relevant experience as a registered nurse; experience in a team environment; interest in public health/community work; commitment to undertaking SCHPN training; team player. Desirable: Inner-city/postnatal/community work; experience with children and families.
KnowledgeConfidentiality; safeguarding legislation; NMC code of conduct; Healthy Child Programme; current community/public health issues; equality and diversity awareness.
OtherUnderstanding of equal opportunities; trust values; emotional resilience; ability to travel between community health sites independently.
