Project Quantity Surveyor
We are working on behalf of a leading national infrastructure contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering major civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth and the successful award of multiple long-term framework agreements, our client is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of a Project Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of off-track rail infrastructure and civil engineering projects throughout South Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially secure business with a strong pipeline of secured work, offering long-term career stability within a supportive and progressive commercial environment. Reporting into the Senior Commercial team, you will play a key role in the commercial management of a portfolio of NEC projects typically valued between -5 million and -15 million, taking responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of schemes from procurement through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administering NEC contracts, including compensation events, early warnings and contractual notices.
- Preparing cost reports, forecasts, applications for payment, valuations and monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Procuring and managing subcontract packages, including valuations, payments and variations.
- Monitoring project costs, identifying commercial risks and implementing measures to maximise project profitability.
- Negotiating subcontractor accounts and assisting with the agreement of final accounts.
- Working closely with project managers, site teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually in line with business objectives.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and supporting financial reporting across the wider commercial team.
Projects will include a diverse range of civil engineering and rail infrastructure schemes, including bridge and structural works, station regeneration projects, AFA schemes and general civil engineering works delivered under long-term framework agreements across South Wales.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within civil engineering, infrastructure or rail and will possess a good understanding of commercial management and contract administration. Experience working under NEC forms of contract is highly desirable, together with strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
This role would suit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of projects within a leading national contractor, offering exposure to a varied portfolio of infrastructure schemes while benefiting from the security of long-term framework agreements and excellent opportunities for career progression.
In return, you''ll join a market-leading contractor offering a competitive salary and benefits package, long-term continuity of work across South Wales, structured career development and the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of critical infrastructure projects that will benefit local communities for years to come.
