We are seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Production Engineer with a strong electrical test bias to join a growing engineering and manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on role supporting Operations and Engineering throughout the product lifecycle. You will design and develop test equipment for in-process sub-assembly testing, improve production processes, resolve technical issues, and help ensure products are built efficiently, reliably, and to the required quality standards.

The role would suit an engineer with experience testing electrical and electromechanical equipment, strong fault-finding ability, and confidence interpreting complex wiring diagrams and PCB schematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the key electrical and test interface between Engineering and Production teams.
  • Define and implement in-process testing requirements to improve build quality and reduce rework.
  • Provide electrical and test support to resolve engineering and production issues, minimising delays and disruption.
  • Support Design Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, and Design for Test principles are considered from the earliest stages.
  • Design, develop, and procure test equipment, jigs, fixtures, and associated tooling.
  • Develop test procedures and support the coordination of production engineering activities.
  • Support the implementation of engineering change requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, best practice, and cost-reduction initiatives to improve capacity, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Support Continuous Improvement activity across production and engineering functions.
  • Assist the Quality team with inspection, investigation, and corrective-action activities.
  • Conduct engineering analysis to reduce production and test-equipment downtime.
  • Fault-find electrical and electromechanical equipment, investigate root causes, and deliver practical resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product specifications, production processes, and relevant engineering technologies.
  • Support preparation of budgets and monitor relevant expenditure.
  • Provide technical support to customers when required, including occasional travel to resolve production or product issues.
  • Support training and knowledge transfer for production staff.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workshop and office environment.
Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience within a test, electrical, manufacturing, or production engineering environment; alternatively, a relevant degree, HND, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong experience testing electrical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and PCB schematics.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and root-cause analysis capability.
  • Good computer literacy and confidence producing technical documentation.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable

  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or training production staff.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW software.
  • PLC programming knowledge.
  • Experience using CAD software.
  • Knowledge of digital camera and video protocols.
