£55,000 per annum 

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations.

Production Manager Role

• Oversee day-to-day production activities across composite manufacturing, including material preparation, lay-up, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, machining, bonding, assembly, inspection and stores
• Manage production schedules, ensuring customer deadlines and delivery targets are met
• Monitor production performance, identifying and addressing any issues affecting output, quality or efficiency
• Manage and support production supervisors, team leaders and shop floor staff
• Identify training needs and support the development of the production team
• Ensure manufacturing activities meet the required quality standards, customer specifications and aerospace regulations, including AS9100
• Work closely with Quality to investigate issues, reduce defects and minimise scrap and rework
• Promote a strong health and safety culture across the production environment
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste and streamline manufacturing processes
• Monitor key production KPIs, including delivery performance, labour efficiency, output and quality
• Manage labour resources and support production planning and capacity requirements
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and other departments to ensure production runs smoothly
• Support new product introductions and ensure manufacturing processes are ready for production

Production Manager Essentials

• Experience in a Production Manager or similar production leadership role within aerospace manufacturing
• A strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes
• Experience managing production teams within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, including AS9100
• Experience managing production schedules, resources and delivery targets
• A good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• The ability to identify areas for improvement and drive changes across production
• Need experience with composite materials

Production Manager Desirable:

• A qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or Operations Management, such as HNC, HND or a degree
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production reporting
• Experience with budget management and capacity planning
• A health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH
