We''re seeking a Principal Designer/Safety Specialist to join our dedicated and growing team. You''ll play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are delivered in compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM15), ensuring that designs are safe to build and construction is carried out safely on site. You will be instrumental in embedding health and safety into the pre-construction and construction process and ensuring full compliance with CDM15.About the Role

As a Principal Designer/Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle.Responsibilities

Production of relevant CDM documentationWriting pre-construction information reports and compilation of the information pack for tender.Compiling the Design Risk Registers in conjunction with the design teamAssessing contractor risk assessments and method statements and the Principal Contractors construction phase plan.Writing to clients to discharge their duties under CDM15Play an active part in internal and external stakeholder meetings, offering CDM/HandS advice during the full project lifecycleCollating the health and safety fileSupporting the project team in managing construction design risk, undertaking site visits and audits to provide advice on health and safety improvements and best practice.Compiling Site Inspection Reports for the project teamSupporting the delivery of the CDM Principal Designer role and the Site Safety Inspector Role.Driving improvements in health and safety at all stages from pre-construction to construction.Supporting the wider health and safety team.Act as a point of contact for the project teams regarding CDM/HandS matters, fully engaging with the project team on all matters pertaining to CDM15 regulations, Principal Designer role and any health and safety matters.Other duties include

Assisting in the production of health and safety documentsSupporting business development activities including client engagement and bid preparationProviding health and safety advice internally across the wider business and assisting with internal audits.Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:Prior experience in a similar role within the construction industry.NEBOSH (construction) qualification, construction related degree, HND or HNCHold a CSCS cardKnowledge and understanding of health and safety in construction and CDM15 regulationsUnderstanding of the role of Principal Designer (CDM)Knowledge and understanding of the construction process, RIBA stages and the flow of information in the Principal Designer work-streamHave excellent communication skills, fluent in English both written and spoken, able to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders internally and externally and build strong working relationships, deliver written reports to a high standardHave fantastic organisational skills - be able to manage your own diary, be proactive in planning your workload and manage multiple priorities.Be driven and enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn and develop within the roleBe a member of the Association of Project Safety and IOSHA full driving licence and the ability to travel within the UK to different client sites.Preferred Skills
