CDM Principal Designer

Overview

CDM Principal Designer sought by a privately owned, multi-disciplinary construction consultancy in Northampton (hybrid working). The role supports clients across the Industrial, Commercial and Residential sectors with ongoing demand for CDM and Health and Safety consultation.Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle and that designs are safe to build and construction is carried out safely on site, in line with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM15).Embed health and safety into the pre-construction and construction process and ensure full compliance with CDM15.Collaborate with the wider team and clients on:Production of relevant CDM documentationWriting pre-construction information reports and compiling the information pack for tenderCompiling the Design Risk Registers with the design teamAssessing contractor risk assessments and method statements and the Principal Contractor’s construction phase planDrafting communications to clients to discharge their duties under CDM15Participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings, providing CDM/HandS advice throughout the full project lifecycleSupport the project team in managing construction design risk, undertaking site visits and audits to advise on health and safety improvements and best practiceCompile Site Inspection Reports for the project teamAct as a point of contact for CDM/HandS matters, engaging with the project team on all CDM15, Principal Designer, and health and safety mattersQualifications and experience

Prior experience in a similar role within the construction industry; ideally as a Principal Designer on large/complex projectsNEBOSH (construction) qualification, construction-related degree, HND or HNCCSCS cardKnowledge and understanding of health and safety in construction and CDM15 regulationsUnderstanding of the role of Principal Designer (CDM) and the construction process, RIBA stages, and information flow in the Principal Designer work-streamExcellent communication skills; fluent in English, written and spokenAbility to manage diary, plan workload, and handle multiple prioritiesDriven, enthusiastic, and willing to learn and develop within the roleMember of the Association of Project Safety and IOSHFull driving licence and ability to travel within the UK to client sitesSalary and benefits
