Brief description:

Experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant required for a supportive secondary setting in Newham. Working with students of mixed abilities, providing personal care, learning support and helping pupils access education safely.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The role involves working closely with teachers and therapists, assisting with personalised learning activities, managing personal care needs and supporting students during transitions throughout the school day. Experience using hoists and specialist equipment is essential.

• Use hoists and specialist equipment safely and confidently

• Support communication, engagement and independence

• Promote safeguarding and student wellbeing at all times

Requirements -

The ideal candidate would have:

• Previous experience supporting students with PMLD
• PMLD training and a strong understanding of complex learning needs
• Hoist training and experience using moving and handling equipment
• Experience working with secondary-aged students
• A patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
