Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Facilities Management provider for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their specialist team supporting a critical healthcare contract.
The role is primarily based across Tyne & Wear, with travel required across the wider North East and North West. On occasion, you may be required to travel as far as Manchester and across to Cumbria, so flexibility to travel is essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Electrical Engineer looking for a secure, long-term position with a strong package, company vehicle and excellent additional earning potential through overtime and call-outs.
The Role
Working as part of a professional multi-skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive electrical maintenance across multiple healthcare sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Electrical fault finding, repairs and diagnostics.
- Inspection and testing of electrical systems.
- Carrying out minor electrical works and remedial tasks.
- Supporting wider building services and mechanical systems where required.
- Responding to breakdowns and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
- Completing maintenance records, reports and relevant documentation.
- Working closely with colleagues, contractors and clients.
- Ensuring all works are completed in line with health & safety and compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Inspection & Testing qualification - 2391 or 2394/2395 desirable.
- Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Previous experience within Facilities Management, Healthcare, Commercial or Critical Environments is advantageous.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills and the ability to complete maintenance records and reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel across the region, including occasional travel towards Manchester and Cumbria.
The role operates on a 1-in-6 call-out rota, offering excellent additional earning potential:
- £125 standby payment for each call-out period.
- Minimum 4 hours'' pay when called out.
- Call-outs paid at 1.5x or 2x the normal rate, depending on the applicable rate/time.
