MEP Supervisor
The MEP Supervisor Role-
As a Mechanical Bias MEP Supervisor, you will support the management team in the successful delivery of commercial mechanical installation projects across Kent, Sussex, and Surrey.
You will oversee installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The role will focus heavily on commercial mechanical systems, including commercial heating, boiler installations, pipework systems, and hot & cold water services.
Alongside site supervision, you will provide technical input into projects, assist with producing mechanical specifications and schematics, and occasionally support the commercial team with pricing small works projects up to approximately -500k.
This position will be a mixture of site-based and office-based working, requiring someone who is comfortable managing engineers in the field while also supporting project planning, design, and estimating activities.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Installation Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation works across commercial projects.
- Manage teams of installation engineers, mechanical operatives, and subcontractors.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with:
- Drawings
- Specifications
- RAMS
- Programme requirements
- Quality standards
- Provide technical support and guidance to engineers on site.
- Carry out site inspections and ensure installations are completed correctly.
Commercial Mechanical Systems
- Oversee installation and commissioning activities including:
Commercial heating systems
Boiler installations
Commercial plant rooms
Heating pipework installations
LTHW / CHW systems
Hot & cold water systems
Pumps, valves, and mechanical plant
Associated mechanical services equipment
Ensure all works comply with current industry standards and client requirements.
Estimating & Small Works Support
Assist with pricing and estimating small works projects up to approximately -500k.
Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
Support preparation of:
- Labour estimates
- Material costs
- Installation methodologies
- Technical proposals
Assist with variations and project changes.
Health & Safety
Promote a strong safety culture across all sites.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and legislation.
Support implementation of RAMS, permits, and safe working practices.
Monitor contractor performance and site standards.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must have:Technical / Qualification Requirements
Mechanical qualification at HNC, HND level or higher.
- Current gas qualifications are essential.
- Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical building services.
- Proven experience with commercial heating systems.
- Understanding of plant room installations and mechanical infrastructure.
Experience Requirements
Strong hands-on mechanical installation background.
Previous experience working on the tools within mechanical services.
Experience supervising teams of:
- Mechanical engineers
- Installation engineers
- Subcontractors
Previous experience in a supervisory, site management, or engineering leadership position.
Experience delivering commercial building services projects.
Skills Required
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Good communication skills with clients, engineers, and management teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Commercial awareness and ability to support pricing activities.
