SEN Mentor
Location: Bournemouth
Contract: Flexible hours - pick your own schedule!
Salary: GBP25-GBP30 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Mentor to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Bournemouth/Christchurch/Poole. In this role, you will provide 1:1 mentoring to help young people build confidence, develop social skills, and achieve their personal goals, all while working on a schedule that suits you.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored mentoring sessions that encourage independence, resilience, and positive social interactions.
- Support young people to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting inclusion, respect, and personal growth.
- Keep accurate records of progress and contribute to planning and review meetings.
About You
- Experience of working with children or young people, ideally with SEN in any setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young people to reach their potential.
- Flexible and resilient in responding to individual needs.
To be eligible for the Maths and English Tutor role, you need:
- Hold the right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
- Up to date Safeguarding training (can provide training)
