Prospero Teaching is seeking positive, understanding, and nurturing Mentors to support young people at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX) in Romsey and nearby areas. These learners need compassionate guidance to reengage with education, build trust with adults, and explore their interests through meaningful, personalised activities.
As a Mentor, you will work 1:1 with young people to:
- Reignite their interest in learning through practical tasks and hands-on activities
- Build positive adult relationships based on trust, consistency, and empathy
- Tailor sessions around the hobbies and interests of each learner to foster engagement and personal growth
About you:
- Experienced in youth work, mentoring, or education
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
- Creative, patient, and able to build rapport through shared interests
- Committed to making a lasting impact

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
